Stuck with a Capital ‘F’

I’m not even sure this is fair, its such a layup, but talk about stuck. What the heck is going on over there at NBC ?

I mean, what a cluster — and just mistake after course correcting mistake.  It seems that NBC has taken a great brand (The Tonight Show), some great talent and managed to just, really the only way to say it, screw the pooch on this.

Has everyone forgotten how long it took Conan to get his legs under neath him? (a loooooooooong time). And they wanted to mix it up, put Leno out to pasture etc.

It would appear that the only thing they have been successful in doing is getting majorily stuck.  Seems really similar to the start-up that raises $40M when it seems they couldn’t possibly use it.

NBC is hemorrhaging cash on this deal and it seems like they are going to totally screw themselves.  It seems clear that Conan is going to leave, it seems clear that Jay is going to come back.

The problem is for NBC? They are motivating the masses against themselves and where ever Conan ends up, he is going to take a lot of viewers with him.

While it’s nice to still have Jay — that’s not a rally cry for anyone. Conan has become a cause.

If they were really impressive, NBC would figure out how to lock in Conan, give him the support he needs and turn this into a win, but some how  I doubt it.
